
Miami’s Dolphins Stadium is one of only a few sites in the U.S. and Canada that hosts both professional football and major league baseball. Aside from regular league play, the facility, formerly known as Joe Robbie Stadium, has hosted Super Bowls in 1989, 1995 and 1999 and concerts by such celebrities as Elton John, Gloria Estefan, Hall & Oates and Paul McCartney.

Dolphins Stadium’s finance department was operating using an antiquated DOS-based system. This system was difficult to integrate to other Dolphins Stadium systems and was no longer being supported by the vendor. The organization was in great need of a fully integrated, Windows-based solution that could increase productivity, allow for more efficient financial reporting and enhance access to their financial information.
A critical process improvement Dolphins Stadium required involved refunding ticket values for cancelled games or stadium events. In order to ensure greater accuracy, facilitate rapid refunds and eliminate manual check processing, Dolphins Stadium’s systems were integrated with Ticketmaster through Microsoft Great Plains. Solution@MBAF’s implementation achieved efficient electronic refunds, funds transfers, electronic bank reconciliation and effective payables and receivables management. As a result of this implementation, department managers at the stadium are more self-sufficient and have greater access to their department’s information. They have also gained the ability to generate reports on demand.
